Mr Bean and Teddy
This page is devoted to one very special bear. Mr Bean's Teddy, his pride and joy, inseparable companion and closest friend. Teddy understands Mr Bean better than anyone, and Mr Bean is as good a friend a bear could wish for. Here are some of his greatest moments, taken from the 10 years anniversary collection of Mr Bean episodes:
| The first time we meet him is impaled on a bayonet. Mr Bean takes advantage of the rigid immovability of one of the palace guards to decorate him for a photograph, but the Changing of the Guard is sounded just before his camera goes off. |  |

Here we meet Teddy having a bedtime story. Mr Bean notices that Teddy isn't laughing at the funny bits, so he finds him a pair of glasses. |
| At the end of the day, there's nothing Teddy likes more than being put to bed in a shoe box under Mr Bean's bed. |  |

The same care and affection is not shown to every stuffed toy, as can be shown by this makeshift nappy. |
| Sometimes Mr Bean comes close to neglecting his duties of care, but he can't bring himself to cut off Teddy's head, even when he's very short of space in his holiday suitcase. |  |

Again Mr Bean's vindictive streak comes to the fore, but in this case it was in aid of cheering up a plane-sick child. Oddly enough, it didn't work. |
| When they finally arrive at their holdiay destination, Mr Bean removes Teddy's blindfold to reveal the mystery destination. |  |

Unfortunately his care and attention in tucking Teddy into a knitted blanket in the cabinet drawer didn't rule out the ever-present danger of decapitation that frequently faces bears of Teddy's age and situation. |
| Fortunately a lack of head doesn't hinder Teddy from keeping Mr Bean company during the long nights of his convalescence from a bout of sickness brought on by a self-inflicted oyster-eating competition. |  |

Mr Bean's friends Rupert and Hubert aren't the only ones who deserve paper hats - Teddy joins in all the fun of a marmite-twig and sugary-vinegar party. |
| And he is welcomed as an equal as they ring in the new year with a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Of course, Teddy knows that Rupert and Hubert put the clock forward and hour and a half to get away early, but he can't get a word in edgeways. |  |

That night Teddy is out like a light, and he is carried as gently as a baby to the bed. |
| Following Mr Bean's eventful January sales adventures, Teddy is given pride of place on the brand new chair. | |

He may be a friend, but Mr Bean is not above a bit of harmless trickery when Teddy isn't amenable to something. Like when he lost the bristles from his only brush. |
| Fortunately, after the initial shock, Teddy did as good a job as can be expected, though Mr Bean soon decided that putting a firework in a tin of paint would work much better. |  |

Deep down, Mr Bean really cares about his bear. When he pulls up at the village fete (in the sheepdog trials sheep-pen), he makes sure the window is open a crack. Bears die in hot cars. |
| Coaxing Teddy out of his basket later in the day, Mr Bean suceeds in entering him in the pets competition. |  |

They have got past the first hurdle - signing up. Now all they need to do is demonstrate the obedience and intelligence of our bear in a series of trials. That shouldn't be too difficult for a bear like ours. |
| Despite a tendency to try to climb back up Mr Bean's jacket, Teddy finally manages to sit still when told. Things are looking good... |  |

On a makeshift leash, Teddy has suceeded in walking over the obstacles and manages to resist the sausage. |
| Obviously getting a bit bored of watching all the inferior animals struggling away, Teddy asks the time. Patience, Teddy, patience... |  |

There have been some good times for the dogs round the cones, but, after some careful placement of his extendable lead, Mr Bean manages to coach Teddy through the course in record time. |
| A bone is a somewhat hollow victory for a bear, but Mr Bean manages to swap it for a jar of honey without being spotted. Much better. |  |

Everybody needs to wash sometimes, but Mr Bean knows how hard it can be when it requires going in a washing machine. Fortunately he brought a tiny snorkel with him to the launderette. |

Surprise! A shiny pair of drawing pins - new eyes! Teddy admires the room like never before. |
| "Yes! - Three" - Mr Bean checks the new eyes are doing the trick. |  |

Teddy spends most of Christmas day watching TV with his new eyes and favourite glasses. |
| Mr Bean's love interest hasn't noticed his frenzied attempts to retrieve a watch from the Christmas dinner. She is too busy greeting our hero. |  |

He might be sleeping in late when he should be on his way to the dentist, but Teddy knows enough not to try to wake him. He's already evaded the attempts of an alarm clock and a jet of boiling water. |
| But even when he's in a hurry, Mr Bean spares the time to sneak back in to tuck Teddy in. He deserves a lie-in after all. |  |
